African First Lady’s Peace Mission
during the UN General Assembly in New York
On September 23, Mr. Frank Liu, &
Dr. Ugoji Adanma Eze, Esq
board members of the World Harmony Foundation,
and, Dr. Juliet Luo , adviser to WHF ,
were invited to attend the
African First Lady’s Peace Mission Luncheon
held during the 76th session of the
United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The theme of the luncheon:
Accelerating women , peace and security in Africa
within the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda.
The banquet opened with a welcome speech by
Dr. Mairo Al-Makura,
Special Assistant to the President of
the Federal Republic
of Nigeria.
Followed by inspiring keynote speeches.
By the first ladies of Nigeria and Gambia ,
H.E. Dr. Aisha Muhammudu Buhari
and
H.E. Ms. Fatumata Bah-Barrow
They began by Acknowledging
Ambassador H.E. Mr Abiodun Richard Adejola ,
Permanent Representative of Nigeria
to the United Nations , Geneva,
Followed by The First Ladies outlining the mission of
AFLPM
to provide to discuss the scaling up of female
participation
in peacebuilding ,
recognizing its importance in reducing poverty
and improving the lives of all Africans
They Shared innovative solutions to the current issues and
challenges
of that women and girls face.
Highlighting the substantial role and impact of women and
girls
on peace and security, as outlined in the 2030 Agenda
and the 2063 Africa Agenda.
