17 November
2009 (West Palm Beach, FL) - The Salvation Army
Men’s Committee held their annual “A Night Out with
the Dogs” on Friday, November 6th. The
party was hosted by the Men’s Committee Chairmen;
Joe Gallagher and Ron Warner. This exciting social
event was held in The Paddock Room at the Palm Beach
Kennel Club with approximately 55 people in
attendance. Guests were served a meal consisting of
either English Cut Prime Rib or Golden Breast of
Capon while observing the dog races and raffle items
up for grabs. The event raised $5,600 to support
Christmas programs provided by The Salvation Army of
Palm Beach County. “The holiday season is a
critical time of the year for the Salvation Army,”
said Area Commander, Captain Thomas McWilliams, “we
are energized by the proceeds but look to raise as
much as we possibly can to support the community
this Christmas season.”
“A Night Out
with the Dogs” is a pre-event to the Salvation Army
38th Annual Christmas Ball to be held on
Thursday, December 3rd at the Bear’s Club
in Jupiter. Tickets to the event are still
available at $375 per person by calling
561.686.3530. If you are unable to attend this
black-tie event and would like to support The
Salvation Army this Christmas season look for our
Red Kettles throughout the community. 85 cents of
every dollar received by The Salvation Army goes
directly to programming. The Better Business Bureau
asks charities to allocate no more than 35 % of
their budget to administrative expenses, the
Salvation Army cuts this allowance in half.
