June 26, 2010

WCBS-TV health reporter and American Heart
Association National Board Member Dr. Max Gomez will
emcee the Heart of the Hamptons Ball on Saturday,
June 26 at the Hayground School in Bridgehampton,
NY. Themed “Turn The Beat Around”, The Heart
Ball will take place from 6:00 p.m. to
11:00 p.m.
“I’m honored to be emceeing this event, “Dr. Max
Gomez said. “If we are really going to make a
difference in heart disease in this country,
prevention is going to be key. We hope that this
event will empower people to turn the beat around in
their own lives and adopt a more heart-healthy
lifestyle. That’s much better than waiting for heart
disease or stroke to strike.”
This year, the Heart Ball will honor Dr. Karl
Krieger with the Distinguished Service Award for his
outstanding work as the vice chairman of the
Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at New York
Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center. In
addition, the Heart Hero Award will be presented to
Philip H. Geier, Jr., a heart transplant survivor
who has made significant lifestyles changes to
improve his heart-health.
This year’s event
Co-Chairs will be Dr. & Mrs. Wayne Isom, Mr.
& Mrs. Justin Kennedy and Mr. & Mrs. Reuben Mark.
The Heart of the Hamptons Ball is a fun and elegant
event focused on raising funds for the mission of
the American Heart Association. Friends and
colleagues from NYC, Long Island and the Hamptons
enjoy the beautiful setting of the Hamptons while
eating delicious heart-healthy foods, drinking
delightful local wines and having fun with the music
and dancing. The evening will feature live music by
the band ‘Millennium,’ and a DJ by East End
Entertainment. A cocktail hour, buffet dinner, as
well as a live and silent auction will also
highlight the night.
