An Evening of Practical Magic paid tribute to the efforts of
individuals and organizations that have gone above and
beyond in their dedication to the fight against hunger.
Support for City Harvest is critical, as emergency food
programs served by City Harvest report an average increase
in demand for emergency food of 25% since 2008.
The 30-30-30 Campaign supports goals identified by City
Harvest’s most recent strategic plan. Launched at An
Evening of Practical Magic, the campaign is named for City
Harvest’s 30th year feeding the hungry, the 30
million more pounds City Harvest will deliver annually for
hungry New Yorkers by the end five years, and the $30
million additional dollars City Harvest will need to raise
over this time period to fulfill its expanded role feeding
New York’s hungry.
In addition to recognizing the staff and chefs of Union
Square Hospitality Group,
Duane Reade was
presented with the Heart of the City Award, given to one of
City Harvest’s important partners who has provided City
Harvest with extraordinary services or who has performed in
an exceptional manner to impact hunger. City Harvest also
acknowledged BJ’s
Wholesale Club Inc.,
Boar’s Head, and
Harvest Queens Farms
as Food Donors of the Year.
Ticket prices for An Evening of Practical Magic
ranged from $750 to $2,500 and tables from
$10,000 to $50,000. Thanks to the generosity of Barclays and
the City Harvest Board of Directors and event co-chairs,
100% of the ticket price for An Evening of Practical Magic
directly supports the efforts of City Harvest to
feed hungry New Yorkers. City Harvest is also grateful to
Discovery Communications, Manhattan Lincoln, and all event
sponsors for their support.
