The Opportunity Network honored Tribeca Film Enterprises CEO
Jane Rosenthal and Goldman Sachs Managing Director Carlos
Watson at its annual Night of Opportunity benefit. More than
500 guests mixed, mingled and dined at Capitale on the Lower
East Side.
The evening kicked off with red carpet arrivals by guests
such as Gigi Stone, Bloomberg TV Anchor; Constance White,
Editor in Chief of Essence Magazine; Jack Sullivan, Chairman
and CEO of Broadway Video Entertainment; Dawn Ostroff,
President of Conde Nast Entertainment; Susan and Alan
Patricof Managing Director and Founder of Greycroft Partners
and Founder of Apax Partners; George Hirsch, Founding
Publisher, New York Magazine; Lori and George Hall, Founder,
CEO, President, and Director, Clinton Group, Inc., and noted
philanthropist; Chet Wood, vice chairman, Deloitte; Ari
Horowitz, Chief Executive Officer, Vibe Media Access
Network; David Batchelor, President, Marsh International,
and Kimberly Guilfoyle, legal analyst and co-host, Fox News
Channel.
The event raised over $800,000 for The Opportunity Network,
which equals the playing field for high-achieving,
low-income high school and college students by creating
access to career opportunities, professional networks and
college. “This is our largest and most successful event
ever. I am truly grateful for the support of so many
influential and generous New Yorkers,” said founder and
executive director Jessica Pliska.
Invited guests chatted with Opportunity Network students,
who used their newly developed networking skills to start
vibrant conversations and exchange business cards. “The
Opportunity Network is life changing,” said Jonathan
Sanchez, who will become the first member of his family to
enter college this September. Jonathan is deciding between
Hamilton College and Cornell University.
