Recently,
Simone Rodriquez of Sisa
Designs held a
spectacular fashion show
at the beautiful
Pantagis Renaissance,
located in Scotch
Plains, New Jersey. An
amazing number of
“fashionistas” turned
out to see Sisa’s latest
creations, and at the
same time raise funds
for an important
charity. Increasing the
excitement and
anticipation of the
evening was the
exhibition of the
AR-1 Supercar at the
events entryway.
The guest list was
headed by actress and
singer Nia Peebles, best
known for her role as
Nicole Chapman in the
television series Fame.
Also in attendance were
television host Lenny
Green, the Moss Twin
Doctors, Dr. Harold
Chung-Loy, Latin
celebrity and speaker
Karen Hoyos, Michael Coe
and Bruce Johnson of the
New York Giants, Mike
Ellis and Bill Lanndis
Director of
Film & Talent, and yours
truly Gloria Cressler are
one of the guests. Many
other important members
of the
movie and music industry
were in attendance.
The event started with
the celebrities and
guests stopping by to
have their photos taken
with the
AR-1 Supercar. The
talented and beautiful
designer
Simone Rodriquez, along
with her models, helped
to create some striking
photographs by posing
with the sculptured AR-1
Supercar. Car designer
and entrepreneur Nick
Alessi was on hand to
discuss the car, sign
autographs
and answer questions.
The cocktails and food
selection for the
evening proved too
temping too - everyone
ditched their diets for
the night. The music of
Carla Virola was just
the right tempo and
flare for the
sophisticated crowd.
And for those interested
in doing a little
shopping -there were a
number of companies
showcasing their
products and services.
“Charity matters” is a
mantra of the fashion
business – and Simone
Rodriquez certainly
demonstrated her big
heart. Just before the
show started, the
audience was introduced
to the plight of Brandon
Higgins, who is
suffering from neuro
degeneration. The
fundraiser portion of
the evening was to raise
money for making his
home handicapped
accessible – a ramp for
his wheel, hold bars for
his bathroom, etc.
Everyone was generous!
Bravo!
And as the show got
under way, things heated
up really fast! A
visual treat greeted the
crowd since the wide
stage reflected a grand
African motif. And
then, right from the
start, sleek models
moved onto runway
wearing some very exotic
(dare I say very sexy?)
bikini's based on
traditional
African inspired designs.
Wow! And as if things
couldn’t get more
interesting, the show
continued with some
cutting edge cocktail
dresses and evening
gowns. Elegant, sexy,
and full of style. Keep
an eye on the House of
Sisa – it does fashion
right!
This is Gloria T.
Cressler signing off
-‘till next time.
Remember: Fashion makes
us young and beautiful.
