On May 19th The
Center for Arts Education (CAE) welcomed over 300 philanthropists
and educators, politicos and art collectors to Affirmation
Arts for ArtsJam 2014, a spectacular evening in celebration
of the organization's mission to ensure every child in every
school has a well-rounded education that includes the
arts.
The event celebrated CAE's work to
provide sustainable arts programs in
schools across the city, offer professional development
for school leaders
and classroom teachers and lead advocacy efforts to
ensure equitable
opportunities for all students to receive quality arts education
from kindergarten through to high school graduation.

Ramon Gonzales from MS223
X in the South Bronx, a CAE partner school.
The event began with a world-class
photography auction curated by Bruce
Silverstein of Bruce Silverstein Galleries. In a
surprise performance,
students from MS 421 marched into the main hall with a rousing
drum line procession.
As the sun went down the party went
upstairs, for an intimate jazz performance
from Jessica Lee of America's Arts and Music Crossroads
of Pittsburgh,
and a full-tilt jam session featuring friends of the organization.
