Children’s History Museum at the New-York Historical Society
hosted its fifth annual Family Benefit Party―Hamilton
Times! Parents and children (ages 4 – 14) will have the
opportunity to meet Alexander Hamilton and discover more
about his life and times with fun, interactive activities
throughout the Museum:
o Met
a teenage Alexander Hamilton and learn about his childhood
home in the Caribbean and his job as a clerk for
a colonial
merchant
o Found
the books Hamilton used to educate himself and the secret
activities they contain
o Decorated
a leather bookmark with gold stamps
o Met
Hamilton as an aide-de-camp during the Revolutionary War,
along with George Washington, American Revolution soldiers,
and Oneida Nation member Polly Cooper
o Visited
a Revolutionary War encampment and help out as an
aide-de-camp, searching for supplies testing your
translating skills
o Toasted
Hamilton and his role in New York’s ratification of the
Constitution, and help decorate The
Hamilton, a huge ship-shaped float
o Posed
as the figure on the $10 bill in an interactive photo booth
o Tested
your knowledge of Hamilton with a true-or-false quiz
o Dueled
with Aaron Burr and decide whether you want to throw away
your shot as Hamilton did
o Decorate
a bejeweled ring, like the kind Elizabeth Hamilton wore
after Hamilton’s death
