The
GTG Golden Shamrock Award
is given annually for artistic contribution
to society. Past honorees include Terrence McNally, Judith Ivey, Brian
Murray,
and Robert Osborne.
“All of us at GTG are thrilled at the opportunity to
honor these two superb New Yorkers who have given their
lives to making our planet a far better place,” said GTG
Artistic Director David Staller in a statement. “Anita
Jaffe has devoted herself to supporting many arts and
humanitarian organizations. Charles Busch has gloriously
redefined the role of a Renaissance man in our society,
lovingly broadening our view of our own place in the
world. Both of them have been inexplicably bound to
GTG's Project Shaw since its inception in 2006.”
Special guests honoring Jaffe and Busch included
Kenneth Lonergan, Rebecca
Lukerand Julie
Halston.
The Co-chairs of the Gala were Robert
Osborne, TCM host and
Richard Weinberg, philanthropist.
A
traditional Irish/American dinner was served of corned
beef and cabbage, stews, pies, puddings, ales and
toasts. To get your Irish up, musicians will also be on
hand.

his canon and precepts to larger audiences while
encouraging individuals to breathe these humanitarian
ideals into their contributions for the future. GTG
