for blind children in Serbia

Humanitarian Organization, under the patronage of HRH Crown

Le Cirque restaurant in New York in aid of blind children in
Serbia.
Belgrade,
New York, 6 November 2013 – Their
Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown
Princess Katherine, hosted a magnificent event that was also
attended by HRH Prince Dimitri, Mrs.
Betty Roumeliotis, sister of HRH Crown Princess Katherine
and her son Mr. Gregory Roumeliotis, H.E.

Ban Soon-taek, wife of the United Nations Secretary General
Mr Ban Ki-moon, and many other distinguished guests.
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine thanked the
attendees on their support and good will on behalf of blind
and visually impaired children in Serbia. According to
official data there
are more than 300 children up
to 18 years old, who face huge problems in education and
mobility. It
should be noted that there are more than 12,000 blind and
visually impaired people in Serbia that have never learned
how to deal with their impairment.
Her Royal Highness
Crown Princess Katherine’s long struggle to help Serbia’s
people and children to have more dignified lives, medical
treatment and opportunities to advance in education was
presented at the charity lunch at Le Cirque restaurant.
Lifeline New York’s Board President Mr. David M. Hryck spoke
about activities of Lifeline New York, their beliefs and
love for Serbia.
Former New York
Governor David Paterson, who lost his eyesight as an infant,
also gave a speech at the luncheon, touching on the
importance of events such as this luncheon. He has no vision
in his left eye and just 20/400 vision in his right eye, but
has been tremendously successful. The support he received
throughout his life allowed him to thrive, and it is
critical to him that other blind individuals also get the
care they so desperately need.
