Honoring The Madison Square
Garden Company

2013 - On Thursday, September 19, 2013, sports fans,
supporters and friends gathered at The Lighthouse at Chelsea
Piers for the Police Athletic League’s 19th Annual
SportsNite Dinner, honoring The
Madison Square Garden Company. The
event, which welcomed 300 guests and raised over $330,000
for the nonprofit, was emceed by
Al Trautwig and
included a blockbuster auction with autographed memorabilia,
New York City’s hottest restaurants and one-of-a-kind
experiences.
The event
was chaired by Howard J. Rubenstein and Philip Suarez, and
some of the special guests included Commissioner Raymond W.
Kelly, Robert M. Morgenthau, Archbishop Timothy Cardinal
Dolan, Robert J. McGuire, John B. Osborn, John A.
Catsimatidis, Rod Gilbert, Allan Houston, and Tony Lo Bianco.
Auction items included one-of-a-kind sports experiences and
memorabilia including the baseball Mariano Rivera used to
record his major league-record 602nd save,
opportunities to Meet & Greet Eli Manning, Mark Messier,
Walt “Clyde” Frazier & Derek Jeter, New York Knicks Ballkid
Experience, Yankees Legends and home game packages, A Day at
the Races at Belmont Park, Mets VIP and Suite packages,
Rangers Game & Zamboni Ride, Tennis Racquet by Stan Smith,
Lindsay Davenport, Kathy Rinaldi, Tom Gorman & Todd Martin,
and a Superbowl Football by Hakeem Nicks of
the Giants.
New York City’s Police Athletic League is the first and
finest civilian-run PAL in the country. Founded in 1914,
PAL has served the city’s young people for 99 years. PAL
provides recreational, educational, cultural and social
activities to nearly 40,000 boys and girls annually. It is
also the city’s largest, independent, nonprofit youth
