NEW YORK – October 6, 2016 - Ten
distinguished members of the media industry were saluted at
the 14th Annual
GIANTS OF BROADCASTING & ELECTRONIC ARTS Luncheon in New
York’s Gotham Hall. This celebration, which was presented by
the International Radio and Television Society Foundation,
benefits the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation--a
charity dedicated to preserving the past, reflecting the
present, and informing the future.
The Library created the Giants to honor the
remarkable creators, innovators, entrepreneurs, performers
and journalists who have brought the electronic arts to the
prominence they occupy in the United States and the world
today, and who have set the stage for the future.

The LIBRARY
OF AMERICAN BROADCASTING -
located at the University of Maryland - has for more than
forty years served as the national information resource for
the radio and television industries and the academic
communities that rely upon it for depth and expertise. Its
collections of historic documents, professional papers, oral
and video histories, books and photographs are among the
nation’s most extensive. LAB is evolving from a conventional
library into a “homepage” for the world at large, no longer
confined to responding to constituents one at a time but
reaching thousands simultaneously through the Internet.
The Library has been honoring leaders in the
broadcasting industry annually since 2003. Previous honorees
include Guglielmo Marconi, David Sarnoff, William S. Paley,
Frank Stanton, Leonard Goldenson, Bob Hope, Lucille Ball,
Jack Benny, Edward R. Murrow, Ronald Reagan, Walter
Cronkite, Norman Lear, Christiane Amanpour, Charlie Rose,
Cokie Roberts, Ken Burns, Lesley Stahl, David E. Kelley,
Katie Couric.

yesterday’s founders and power of today’s leaders to train
and educate the next generation of communication
professionals, The
IRTS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with
programs and diversity initiatives that help ensure that the
business responsible for informing, entertaining, and
educating the public reaches its highest potential in this
exciting digital age. More than 8,500 competitively selected
students and professors from colleges across the nation have
