Huayu China (DYF Entertainment) & CEO Ma
in UN Peace Day New York
by Blair Zhou, Pacific Finance, Beijing
Peace comes at the cost of human casualties. United Nations
is the first and the foremost important world organization
founded in the wake of World War II. The key guiding
principal is to promote peace in the world.
Marked by 70 million fatalities, including those killed due
to natural disasters, hunger, lack of medicine and doctors,
spread of infectious disease, conscription, enlistment of
laborers and genocide, World War II nearly wiped out
humanities. Among those 70 million deaths, the Soviet Union
accounts for 26.6 million and China 18 million, followed by
Germany, Japan, Italy, America and Britain. On January 1st
of 1942, delegates from 26 countries including US, China,
Britain and Soviet Union published Declaration by United
Nations. On July 25th of 1945, delegates from 50 countries
convened UN Conference of International Organizations. On
June 26th, delegates of 50 countries signed UN Charter. On
October 24th, UN Charter came into effect, marking the
founding of United Nations. Currently, United Nations has
193 member states.

On September 7th of 2001, UN General Assembly passed a
resolution deciding September 21st of each year as The UN
Peace Day, starting 2002. According to this resolution, all
UN member states, all organizations, regional organizations,
NGO and individuals in UN system could celebrate The UN
Peace Day and observe global cease-fire. The UN Peace Day is
scheduled to take place on the third Tuesday of September of
each year, which coincides with the opening of UN General
Assembly in New York. |

Paul Sladkus, the host of ceremony of The UN Peace Day
Not only is Paul active in American communities, especially
in Upper East Side where his home is, Paul also pays special
attention to the Chinese community. In the 90s, Paul
introduced Chinese city of Harbin to American viewers
through PBS—the first time a Chinese city was broadcast by
American television station. In 2009, Paul accompanied the
famous director of Crouching Tiger & Hidden Dragon An Lee
for the making of Woodstock Festival film. |

|
Woodstock Rock Festival
Paul was the host of one of the Woodstock Festivals in
subsequent years. Thanks to these events, Paul has
established friendships with many top musicians, filmmakers,
directors, scriptwriters, producers and artists in New York.
Despite 2020 Covid-19 , Paul still held the UN Peace Day
Party. Like the 2020 Grammy Awards ceremony, Paul’s Peace
Day party celebration was also held on line. Artists
received real-time interviews at home and sang their
favorite songs in their living room. The performance and
commentary lasted two hours, about 50 artists, musicians and
cultural ambassadors made wishes for world peace.
The event was supported by IBM.

Online videos of activities celebrating 2020 UN Peace Day
Among the singers and performers, there are two prominent
Chinese ladies. The first is Ms Yue-Sai Kan. Referred to as
the woman who changed “the Middle Kingdom through
lipstick”, Yue-Sai’s lipsticks had beautified millions of
Chinese women during the early Chinese Reform Years. Her
“One World” show in the early 90s by CCTV received over 400
million Chinese viewers. The show had provided a window for
China to look at the world and for the Americans to look at
China. Yue-Sai’s charming and vivacious hosting style and
language talents won her multiple Emmy awards.
Another Chinese lady is Ms Ma Xiaoqiu. Ms Ma is Chairman of
the Board of a Hong Kong listed multi-billion dollar
investment firm, stock code 612. She is also the follower of
Yue-Sai Kan in fashion and trend. Her first lipstick is
Yue-Sai’s brand-Chinese Red. Her first make-up bible is also
that by Yue Sai. In Paul’s opinion, these two gorgeous
Chinese ladies represent the innovative spirit of Chinese
women as well as Chinese spirit of charity. The wealth
creation doesn’t end in oneself, but for a collective good
at large.

in the subsequent economic boom in the US. In 2010, Douglas
collaborated again with Olive Stone to produce “Wall Street

Another guest of honor worthy of our attention is Founder
and President of Family Film Awards, Dr. Olympia Gellini.
In 1996, with Dick Clark as his partner, and with Clinton’s
blessing, Olympia Gellini established the Family Film
Awards. Among the first recipients were Tom Hanks, Sandra
Bullock, Ron Howard and Robin Williams. To Dr Gellini,
family film awards is the vehicle to bring unity and peace
of the world through family entertainment. “The respect to
each other’s culture is the weapon to minimize and destroy
discrimination, root of all modern evils,” says Dr. Olympia
Gellini. |

Interviewed
by Pacific Finance on DYF Entertainment and its prospect in
New York, given US China tension and decoupling talks and
acts, Paul observes positively that Ms Ma’s film and
television studio in New York—DYF Entertainment-is here to
stay and grow.
“I visited Ms Ma in Shenzhen and I attended her company gala
of ten thousand investor, in her and her company combine the
financial strength and film-making creativity. The synergy
is there, the drive is there, the market is there. I have no
doubt DYF Entertainment will not do well. The world needs
positive energy, hope and peace,” said Paul.
