ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION - "THE LUCK OF THE IRISH"

On March 14, 2013, we had another wonderful event – our Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration. Our guests, many of who wore the tradition green, were in a festive mood ‘till the wee hour of the morning toasting the “Luck of the Irish.”
Our celebration was hosted by Elite Professional Networking Group, Black Tie International Magazine, Power Team International, Giorgio G Cognac (by fashion designer Giorgio GUCCI), Emperors Brand and the AR-1 Supercar. Old and new friends gathered at the always-popular Trump Tower International World Bar to welcome the night of Eire.
We were very fortunate to have several guests from Europe. Harvey Dzodin, a former vice president of ABC Television who spent 25 years in ABC TV was in attendance. He now spends his time in Vienna, Turkey and China, and is a sought-after consultant on television programming.
Also in attendance, from Ireland, was the lovely Tina O'Hagan, of Tina O'Hagan Associates. She visited New York to help us celebrate our St. Patrick's Day. While she was in New York. She was able to have dinner at my favorite restaurant, Morton’s Steakhouse. My good friends Larry and Andrea Spring, the managing director of Blue Star Jets, accompanied her. Yours truly was under the weather and I thank Larry and Andrea for hosting Tina. After dinner, Tina and Andrea visited The Fighting 69th, known as the Irish Brigade, a battalion that was started in 1851 by Irish immigrants in New York City. They served with distinction during the Civil War, World War I, and World War II,Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the famous Chaplains of the Fighting 69TH
was Father Francis Duffy, whose statue is in Duffy Square at 47TH and Broadway.
The battalion’s headquarters is at the Armory on the Lower East Side. Lieutenant Colonel James Gonyo is the Battalion Commander, and he was gracious enough to show the facility to Tina and Andrea. Following the tour, Sgt.Seamus Fennessy of fighting 69th sang several Irish ballads to Tina at the officer's club. Tina told me that she would always remember the special hospitality and friendliness of New Yorkers! I want to give a special thank you to Lieutenant Colonel James Gonyo for taking such good care of Tina. The Armory is always a busy place with Irish dignitaries the week before St. Patrick's Day, but the Lieutenant Colonel was gracious to accommodate our visitors.
One thing that a lot of people don't know, Victoria Secret’s yearly fashion show is held at this Armory in the Lower East Side. Other famous designer also put their fashion shows there also. The Armory’s ballroom and other spaces are open for other events or business expos. Just call their office., or check www.sixtyninth.net.
Our entertainment for the night was singer Nancy Goudinaki. Her creative interpretation of lyrics is something special. Our birthday celebrant was Husain Ansar of New York Life and committee member of Elite Professional Networking Group. We had a beautiful birthday cake for him and the guests sang a rousing edition of Happy Birthday.
Once again, special thanks goes to Kenneth McClure, who is both the general manager of the Trump Tower International World Bar and the vice president of Hospitality Holdings. The firm Hospitality Holdings owns and manages nine establishments, including the Empire Room at the Empire State Building and the Campbell Room at Grand Central Station. Ken, along with his staff, creates the perfect party experience. Great food and drinks! They always give us the best service.
Once again we held our silent auction. We would like to thank all the guests who participated and bid on the silent auctions and our good friends who so generously donated the silent auctions items. All the money collected is donated to various veteran charity organizations (a list is available). We plan to continue to hold silent auctions at our upcoming events.
