On Monday I attended a tribute to Austin
Pendleton at The Players Club.
It was presented by The
Oberon Theatre Ensemble....a Toast, Boast or Roast.
In
attendance were Olympia Dukakis and F. Murray Abraham, both
of whom
seemed quite smitten with the man of the hour.
Jon L. Heinemann & Rafael Feldman
Austin Pendleton is an American Film,
television, and stage actor, a playwright, and theatre
director and instructor. He has appeared in over 120 films
and television shows since the late 1960's. Among his most
notable films are....A Beautiful Mind, Searching for Bobby
Fischer, and Guarding Tess. I loved him in the Muppet Movie
when he played Doc. Hopper's right hand man, Max.
He also directed Elizabeth Taylor and Maureen Stapleton in
Lillian Hellman's,
The Little Foxes, garnering him a Tony Award nomination.
Michele Gerber Klein & Cassandra Seidenfeld
I had the pleasure of chatting with him at cocktails, before
the roasting,
and he is most charming. I
really adored him.
Cocktail Hour at The Players Club.....Michelle-Marie
Heinemann,
Cassandra Seidenfeld, Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin
One of the main sponsors for the evening was my dear friend
Cassandra Seidenfeld. She is also a fellow thespian and
producer, having appeared in numerous movies and plays. She
was our hostess and a darling to purchase a table for all
her friends.
Michelle-Marie Heinemann, Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin and
husband Rafael Feldman
We were able to see up close and center as The Master of
Ceremonies, that being Harrison Greenbaum, went onstage to
perform his hilarious act....at the expense of coarse of
Austin Pendleton. Nothing was off limits and it was quite
tawdry at times, however we laughed until our eyes
burned.....at least mine, I think Consuelos's as well.
The perfect ending.....Michael Lee Stever,
Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin,
Michelle-Marie Heinemann, Rafael Feldman, Jon L. Heinemann, Cassandra
Seidenfeld.
We laughed and laughed and laughed and it didn't stop at The Players Club.
Cassandra had organized a beautiful dinner at her home
afterwards with the most divine pairings of wines. Her
husband Robert is a wine connoisseur, and we delighted
in his stories about the wine we drank.
It was such a beautiful evening.....we had
the grandest time!
Until next time....xoxoxo.....Michelle-Marie
Heinemann
