Ma Xiaoqiu’s Successful Honorary Doctorate Award Ceremony
At 10am on 24 January 2021, Ma Xiaoqiu was awarded an
honorary doctorate by California Miramar University at a
ceremony held simultaneously in California and at the
Singhaji Hotel in Shenzhen. Shenzhen University Vice
Chancellor Zhang Xueji and other prominent figures were
present at the ceremony, and members of the Board of
Trustees, including Steven Warfield, President of California
Miramar University, as well as renowned scholars and elites
from the United States, participated in the grand conferral
ceremony by way
of a web link. |

On
January 4, 2021, Ma Xiaoqiu was invited by California
Miramar University to become an honorary doctor of the
university. However, due to COVID-19, Ma was unable to come
to California to receive the honour in person. Therefore, at
the suggestion and arrangement of the Board of Trustees of
California Miramar University, they conferred an honorary
doctorate on Ma Xiaoqiu through a web link.
A total of six top administrators from California Miramar
University participated in the live link-up, with Vice
Chancellor Stan Foster as the host of the conferral
ceremony.
Chancellor Steven Warfield, who presented the certificate to
Ms Ma, said:
"Ms Ma has been deeply involved in the arts, investing in
entertainment, music and education, and believes in the core
value that respect for cultural differences can unite people
around the world to achieve a common world. From starting
out with nothing to managing hundreds of billions of dollars
in assets, Ma Xiaoqiu is a global role model for women in
business, and she is a testament to the power of Chinese
women entrepreneurs on the rise.
For this, Miramar University has awarded her an honorary
doctorate, which is well deserved."

Dr Jeanie Foster, Chief Operating Officer of California
Miramar University, was very appreciative of Ma Xiaoqiu's
contribution to culture and philanthropy. In particular, she
mentioned Ma Xiaoqiu's outstanding work during the current
Xin Guan epidemic:
"Your work is both inspirational and compelling. Your
humanitarian efforts in charitable projects have provided
thousands of scholarships for young and disadvantaged
students in China, which is precious. Your group's efforts
to help those affected by COVID-19 last year, through the
provision of medical assistance and donations, and later
through words and music to send a much-needed positive
energy and message to the human spirit, have been
invaluable."
Chief Academic Officer and Provost of California Miramar
University, Gooyabadi singled out the preciousness of the
honorary degree. He said:
"Despite receiving many applications and recommendations
for honorary degrees, in the past twenty years, Miramar
University has only conferred two such degrees!
It is with great pleasure and honor that I bestow upon this
truly outstanding woman, Ms Ma Xiaoqiu, the highest honor
for strategic leadership: an honorary doctorate. As we have
seen and heard, Ms Ma has made a remarkable contribution,
not only as an artist, scholar, philosopher, but also as a
philanthropist, educational entrepreneur, entrepreneur and
renowned global leader."

gave speech on this new book.

At the Conferral Ceremony,
Ma Xiaoqiu was dressed in a doctoral uniform and a doctoral
cap, and was tipped and awarded a certificate by Academician
Zhang Xueji. President Zhang Xueji, who is a member of the
American Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering, a
Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a foreign member
of the Russian Academy of Engineering and a member of the
European Academy of Sciences, was invited to turn the passel
for Ma Xiaoqiu and present the certificate on behalf of
California Miramar University

Amidst the congratulations, Ma expressed her gratitude,
saying,
Ladies and Gentlemen, my dearest friends near and far!
Today I’m greatly honored and deeply humbled in receiving
the honorary doctor degree from a prestigious American
institute-
California Miramar University.
This is an honor I have never even dared to dream:
to have a doctoral hat to be put on my head, a doctor’s degree certificate
in my hand, witnessed by my family, friends and colleagues.
This highlights my life.
Thanks for the people who love me and support me along the
way!
Thanks to California Miramar University’s approval and love!
This is something I will cherish for life!
Although I am the chairman of several multinational and
listed companies, I used to be just like many of you: an
ordinary Chinese girl in the journey of growing up
constantly chasing the sun in my heart.
Today, I truly feel the light of the sun shining above my
head, warm and bright! I am so excited, I'm so grateful! I
am very grateful to the Academic Council of Miramar
University, the President, and all the experts and
professors of innovative leadership for recognizing me.
I am particularly grateful to Mr. Stoner, Founder and
Chairman
of the Pacific Rim Chamber of Commerce.
Thank you for introducing me to Dr. Stan Foster, founder and
dean of the School of Innovative Leadership at Miramar
University.
I thank you all for thinking about Ma Xiaoqiu on the other
side of the ocean in the midst of world pandemic in LA where
the pandemic is hit the hardest.
You take such precious time out of your life and use your insight,
philosophy and academic strength to evaluate my artistic and
academic values, innovative models and development ideas of
business management, to which
I’m very thankful.
I would also like to express my deep gratitude to

It is reported that an Honorary Degree is a Degree awarded
by a foreign university to a person who has made outstanding
contributions to a certain field of society.
In recent years, a few Chinese people with outstanding achievements have
also been recognized by American universities,
such as the famous Director Zhang Yimou who was awarded an Honorary
Doctorate from Boston University,
the famous science fiction writer Liu Cixin who was awarded an Honorary
Doctorate from Brandeis University,
and the famous pianist Lang Lang who was awarded an Honorary
Doctorate from the Manhattan School of Music.
Ma Xiaoqiu is the sixth person to receive an Honorary Doctorate f
rom a foreign university in the past 30 years.
